Russian Roulette

Now that most of the postcards I sent from Russia have arrived to their European destinations, I thought it was time I wrote a few impressions here.

The whole country is so peculiar that words are not enough. Pictures can help describing it.

Spiderman or cable cars?
One of my first questions to my hosts Renata & Lars was why there are cables connecting one building to another. As none of them knew the answer, I just took the picture on the hope someone could explain me one day.

Legally illegal
Look at that car. Do you see his plate number? Neither do I. And believe it or not, there were several of them like this in the city. All quite new and expensive.

Lenin is alive! Romanov also!
150 Rubles and you can even take a picture with them.

The pearl of Moscow
Is definitely its metro system. Exceptionally beautiful stations, 40-second connections and all of this for less than US$ 1 a ride.

Barbarous
It's a fox. And they make fur hats out of them. But why would you hang the animal like this? As decoration? If so where? At your front door?!

A very pleasant job
Russia has the talent to create a profitable job out of every single opportunity (my country fellows the Brazilians as well, mind you). These disgusting plastic toilets you only see at big raves are almost part of the landscape in Moscow, this specific one being in front of the Bolshoi teather. The client in need pays some rubles to the old woman who sits, eats, drinks and probably even sleeps in the toilet next door.

Wedding jam
Since most of the year the country is under ice, spring and summer are absolutely favourite for marrying couples. This park is very popular for wedding pictures. So popular you can even notice the next bride waiting behind your guests.

A very pleasant job, part 2
This picture was taken indoors. Not in a farm, but inside an Ucranian restaurant. Muuuuhhhhh!

Très chic
The more foreign, the better. French water. Even if only 60% of it is French.
